Chelsea Green

Chelsea Green

Chelsea Green (DMA) is a classical guitarist and vocalist whose special interests include expansion of guitar repertoire through performance of new music, publication of effective transcriptions, and involvement in innovative collaborations In June 2011, Chelsea published a pedagogical paper in Visions of Research in Music Education, an online and internationally recognized journal. The article is entitled, "Permission to Play: Obstacles and Open-Spaces in Music-Making." California Guitar Archives publishes her transcriptions for guitar and voice entitled Reynaldo Hahn: Three Songs and Erik Satie: Four Songs from 1886. In 2006, Chelsea became an original member of The Los Angeles Electric 8, an electric guitar octet. The group often takes their innovative music on tour throughout major US venues.

Chelsea has taught guitar performance for close to two decades. A number of her students continue to study classical guitar in college, and recently, a former graduated from Lawrence Conservatory. Ultimately, Chelsea aims to inspire all of her students—from beginners to masters—to make music a meaningful part of their lives.
