HIGH SCHOOL

Senior Ensemble

This flagship ensemble brings together students and faculty to play advanced string orchestra repertoire. Students get the opportunity to work with renowned guest artists including conductorless ensemble Delirium Musicum.

Grades: 9th-12th

Teaching Artist: Sam Lorenzini

Day/Time: Saturdays, 12:00pm - 1pm

Prerequisite: 3+ year playing experience. Individual lessons are required. If new to SOL-LA, student will be asked to submit a recording or play for the Artistic Director.

Music Theory Intermediate II

Students learn advanced musical concepts like secondary functions, modulations, augmented sixths and Neapolitan chords, while refining their skills in four-part writing, complex rhythms, form, and creative composition.
Aligned with ABRSM Grade 5 or CM Levels 6-7, AP Music Theory (partial preparation).

Prerequisite: Music Theory Intermediate I or placement exam

Music Theory Advanced

Focusing on advanced harmony and classical forms, this class combines in-depth analysis, ear training, and four-part writing to prepare students for collegiate-level music studies.

Aligned with ABRSM Grade 6-7 or AP Music Theory (comprehensive preparation).

Prerequisite: Music Theory Intermediate II or placement exam

Bravura for High School

Bravura is SOL-LA’s signature holistic education class designed to empower students as expressive, confident, and self-aware artists. Through a rich curriculum that integrates theater improv, movement, public speaking, mindfulness, and physical awareness practices, students learn how to lose their fear on stage, communicate openly, and cultivate wellness practices that support lifelong artistry. Open to all instrumentalists.

Chamber Music Program

Chamber music brings the musical experience to the next level. Students are exposed to some of the most sublime repertoire while learning life lessons surrounding mutual respect, communication and improvisation. This promotes a deeper understanding of intimate networking, musically and socially. These shared experiences ultimately help students become more accomplished musicians.

Prerequisite: 2+ years playing experience

*Each group class is billed at $600 a semester for a 15 week semester
