Arco Ensemble
A musical journey for students to discover the many ways to interpret music through the joys of ensemble playing. This ensemble explores repertoire from the classical greats, to contemporary favorites and beyond.
Grades: 6th-8th

Day/Time: Saturdays, 11:00am - 12:00pm
Prerequisite: 2+ year playing experience, must be taking individual lessons. If new to SOL-LA, student will be asked to submit a recording or play for the Artistic Director.

Music Theory Fundamentals I
Music Theory Fundamentals I
This class is a friendly and comprehensive introduction to the language of music covering the key elements of musical grammar: note reading, rhythm, simple meters, scales, key signatures, and musical terms. Students will also develop their ear training and sight-singing skills through fun, interactive activities.
Aligned with ABRSM Grade 1-2 or Certificate of Merit (CM) Preparatory.
Grades: 4th-8th

Prerequisite: 2+ years note reading experience.

Music Theory Fundamentals II
In this class, students will review and consolidate their foundation of music theory while expanding their knowledge. Topics include simple and compound meters, major and minor scales, syncopated rhythms, intervals and triads, the circle of fifths, melodic dictation, and storytelling through simple compositions.
Recommended for older beginners (12+). Aligned with ABRSM Grade 3 or CM Levels 1-3.

Bravura for Middle School
Bravura is SOL-LA’s signature holistic education class designed to empower students as expressive, confident, and self-aware artists. Through a rich curriculum that integrates theater improv, movement, public speaking, mindfulness, and physical awareness practices, students learn how to lose their fear on stage, communicate openly, and cultivate wellness practices that support lifelong artistry. Open to all instrumentalists.

Chamber Music Institute
Chamber music brings the musical experience to the next level. Students are exposed to some of the most sublime repertoire while learning life lessons surrounding mutual respect, communication and improvisation. This promotes a deeper understanding of intimate networking, musically and socially. These shared experiences ultimately help students become more accomplished musicians.

Roots Ensemble
This ensemble explores the rich traditions that have shaped American music—from bluegrass and folk to Irish, Scottish, Canadian fiddling, and early jazz influences
Grades: Open to middle/high school students and adults with 2+ years of experience. We welcome parents and non-classically trained musicians.

Each group class is billed at $600 a semester for a 14 week semester
$150 registration is due once annually
