Ariel Chapman
Teaching Artist
Ariel Chapman is a session/freelance violist in Los Angeles. She holds three degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music where she studied with Martha Katz, Dimitri Murrath, and Mai Motobuchi-Rosenthal. She has participated in a number of prestigious music festivals including the Heifetz Institute, Music Academy of the West, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Colorado College Music Festival, and the Zodiac Music Festival in Valdeblore, France.
Since she was young, she’s been an avid chamber musician winning a placement in the junior divisions of Saint Paul Chamber Music Competition and the Semi-Finals of the Fischoff Competition. In 2012, she and her quartet were also featured on the radio program, From the Top.
Ariel has also contributed her sound to numerous movie and TV soundtracks including The Mandalorian and Grogu, the award-winning short documentary The Last Repair Shop, Avatar: The Way of Water, and, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. She plays regularly with myriad groups in Southern California including the San Diego Symphony, Pacific Symphony, and Long Beach Symphony.
Ariel is an avid reader (please give me your sci-fi recommendations!), loves learning new things, and has a penchant for analog hobbies including fountain pens, and the newly acquired skill of crochet.
