Ayoun Alexandra Kim
Teaching Artist
Cellist Ayoun Alexandra Kim is a Korean-born performer recognized for her artistry in chamber music, solo performance, and dedication to music education. Kim earned bachelor's and master's degrees from The Juilliard School and an Artist Diploma from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her previous mentors include Natasha Brofsky, Astrid Schween, Hans Jørgen Jensen, and Jennifer Culp. In fall 2026, she will begin doctoral studies with Ralph Kirshbaum at the USC Thornton School of Music.
Her honors include awards from the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition, the Artist Presentation Society Competition, and the Musicians Club of Women Competition. She attended the 2024 Music@Menlo International Program, working with artists including Gil Kalish, Wu Han, David Finckel, Paul Huang, and Chad Hoopes.
Passionate about nurturing young musicians, Kim has served as junior faculty at the Vivace Music Foundation and has experience teaching students of various ages and levels. She is trained in the Suzuki Method and believes in creating a supportive environment where students develop strong technical foundations, musical curiosity, and confidence in their own artistic voices.
